|1 Praise the LORD!|
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
2 While I live I will praise the LORD;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 Who made the heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
7 Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.
8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind;
The LORD raises those who are bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
10 The LORD shall reign forever -
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the LORD!
Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; in that very day his plans perish.|
||From Psalm 146 till the end of the book of Psalms, all psalms start and end with "praise the LORD", and are full of praises to God. The book of Psalms chose to end with praises, which expressed complete faith and hope towards God after going through everything in life. Let us learn how to truly praise God from these 5 psalms, instead of emptily repeating "praise God, thank God" without knowing what to praise Him nor what to thank Him. Praise God, He is the master of history: because the Most High rules in the kingdom of men; He is the king of kings and the lord of lords; even the king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes. Praise God, He is the master of life: He kills and makes alive; He makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up, nobody can flee from His presence. Praise God, He is worthy of our waiting: even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Praise God, He is worthy of our trust: some trusts in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God; not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God. Praise God, He is full of righteousness and full of lovingkindness: He preached the gospel to the poor, proclaimed liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, set at liberty those who are oppressed, and proclaimed the acceptable year of the LORD. Praise God, He lives forever and reigns forever!|
